Onyx
Onyx is a translucent, strongly banded stone usually specified as a feature rather than a working surface. Arcera can source onyx for applications where the material is intended to be the focus, including backlit installations.
- Typical colours
- Honey, amber, white, green and rose, frequently with translucent depth.
- Movement
- Pronounced, flowing banding that can be dramatic across a full slab.
- Common finishes
- Polished, Honed
- Lead time
- Approximately eight to 12 weeks, sourced to order
Describe the character you are after.
These are visual references to help you describe the appearance you prefer. They are not stock, and not a list of what Arcera holds.
Warm and softly veined

Deep green or charcoal ground with luminous contrasting bands.

Considered for scale and use.
Backlit features
The defining application. Translucency allows the banding to be lit from behind, subject to slab thickness and backing.
Feature walls and bars
Used where a single surface is intended to carry a space.
Vanities and furniture
Possible on smaller pieces, though the stone's softness needs consideration.
Natural variation
Highly variable and typically supplied in smaller slabs than other stone. Banding is directional, so layout and bookmatching must be planned at selection.
Natural stone is inherently variable. Colour, veining, movement, fissures, texture and surface characteristics differ between slabs and lots. Representative imagery is provided to communicate the general character of the stone only. Final material selection should be confirmed against available slabs before purchase, fabrication or installation.
Care and specification
Soft, brittle and acid-sensitive. Not generally recommended for kitchen benchtops or high-traffic surfaces. Often resin-treated or backed for stability.
